Bughunt evening for new HTML 5 Reporting

This Wednesday, MDSL held a testing evening to help the development team power through the beta stage of our new HTML 5 Reporting Platform. Employees from all departments were compelled to stay behind after work through sheer intrigue and dedication... and some free pizza and beer. But mainly the intrigue and dedication.

MDSL are close to a production release of HTML5 Dashboards on their technology expense management platform. The new dashboards feature faster loading times, and empower the user to display the data and graphics most important to them with highly-customizable layouts.

The testing event included a competiton judged by CEO Ben Mendoza for the best designed dashboard, and a prize for the most bugs discovered throughout the evening.

Core Platform Developer Ed Godshaw, who organised the event, received invaluable consensus from first-time users on certain UX issues, and a number of bugs were flagged up for his team to iron out in the coming weeks.

It's incredibly important for succesful implementation of MDSL's solution that it is sufficiently intuitive and aesthetically pleasing for the end-user to want to adopt it. The evening featured use of a 'Usability Lab' with an eye-tracking device to determine whether the tabs and menus were where a first-time user would expect them to be.

The new dashboards achieve MDSL's aim to cover all aspects of technology expense management on a single platform. MDSL's latest offering provides actionable business insight within the platform, negating the need to run large exports with the only goal of creating an Excel pivot table. It also includes a full screen presentation mode and the ability to share read-only versions of your dashboards within your organisation, restricting information based on the clearances of the recipients.
